Funk Up

Azimut Green Stage, 23:00 h

Dora Šesto (Croatia)

Description:

Funk Up is a performance created during a seven-day residency in which I explored how to merge five solos developed earlier at the Tic Tac Art Center in Brussels into one living, connected whole.

Each solo has its own character, rhythm, costume, music and a special way of addressing the audience. Through improvisation, I try to find how they can meet each other – that one slides into the other, that there is logic, but that freedom is not lost. There is a structure, but nothing is final.

The performance changes every time. It depends on space, time, and energy. Yet something remains – the inner logic of the movement, the sense of transition, the relationship with the audience that is created anew.

Through physically intense and energetic movement, the work relies on a challenging choreographic structure – one that is at once understandable, daring and virtuosic. I am interested in transformation – how the body moves from one state to another, how movement can remain alive and surprising even when repeated.

Funk Up balances composition and chance, discipline and impulse. There is no surefire plan, but there is confidence in what is happening now.
