SHADOWS Dance Theater (Croatia)
SKIN is a contemporary dance miniature that explores the relationship between the body, identity and inner emotion. Through minimalist movement and powerful physical expression, the dancers show how the skin becomes a boundary between the outer world and personal intimacy. The choreography draws on contrasts: tenderness and tension, closeness and distance, creating a dynamic and emotionally charged atmosphere. Accompanied by subtle music, the piece invites the audience to reflect on their own vulnerability and the ways in which we connect with others.

SHADOWS Dance Theater is the foundation of Šibenik’s dance renaissance. Founded and led by artistic director Zorana Mihelčić, the company introduced contemporary dance to the city in 2001, at a time when it was a completely unknown concept. Today, SHADOWS Dance Theater brings together around one hundred children and young people aged 4 to 18, guided by experienced educators, many of them former dancers who developed their craft within the theatre itself. Through collaboration with local artists and creative individuals, the company has realised numerous acclaimed productions. The international Šibenik Dance Festival, celebrating its 15th jubilee edition this year, is the crowning achievement of their long-standing work and proof of Šibenik’s status as a genuine centre of dance art.
