Barone fortress

Editta Braun Company (Austria)

The Editta Braun Company is a central component of the dance, dance theatre and performance scene in Austria and one of its most important representatives on international stages.

Editta Braun and her team of artists create distinctive dance pieces that are consistently committed to an expressive, theatrical style; humor and seriousness are often closely intertwined, always interwoven with a decidedly socially critical commitment.

An exciting sextet with elements of acrobatics, dance and drama about isolation and conformism, blind violence, merciless struggle, the rage of ideology and war, but also about the power of solidarity on the margins of our society.

Broken, but together. Not useful to society. They wear their clothes in layers on top of each other. They are people like you and me. Vulnerable, anxious, peculiar. Occasionally aggressive. Sometimes happy. Solidary. Selfish. Will they throw their lostnesses together? Will they show solidarity? Fight with each other instead of against each other? Their powerlessness, added together, would be an enormous force. A threat and a promise at the same time.

Sometimes surreal and dreamlike in isolation, sometimes furiously whirling in a group: the top-class six-member ensemble combines acrobatics, synchronised rhythmic group choreographies and acting elements to create poetic and exciting variations on isolation and conformism, the pressure of competition and the power of solidarity on the margins of our society.
