Since 2015 The Fortress has been the main partner and ISDF co-organizer.
Public Institution Fortress of Culture Šibenik was founded in June 2016. It originated from the Department for Management of Fortification System Facilities of Šibenik City Museum, which was established in 2014.
The institution today manages and is in charge of three revitalized Šibenik Fortresses, St. Michael’s, Barone and St. John’s Fortress. Since May 2021, Fortress of Culture has been assigned a new city venue to manage: the House of Arts Arsen. This brand-new theatre became the local citizens’ favourite multi-functional stage for music and stage events, dance performances, cinema screenings, plays and exhibitions.
Fortress of Culture is synonym for excellence in cultural heritage management and in cultural events organization.
Fortress of Culture takes care of Šibenik’s fortification system heritage and manages its sustainable use by organizing cultural events for citizens and visitors of Šibenik.
Activities:
- Cultural heritage management using contemporary and innovative approaches, including financial sustainability.
- Strengthening the perception of Šibenik’s Fortresses as a platform for the promotion of cultural and creative industries through the organization of cultural events.
- Providing attractive cultural and entertainment contents: educational, musical, film, dance and alike.
- Cultural audience development and its education.
- Active promotion and dissemination of interest for cultural and historical heritage, its contents and programs in public.
